ADSS & OPGW

Selecting, installing and testing ADSS and OPGW aerial fiber cable for telecom routes and high-voltage power lines.

Start here

ADSS hangs on poles or below the conductors and carries fiber only. OPGW replaces the ground wire at the top of a transmission tower and carries fiber inside it. The right choice depends on line voltage, span, ice and wind load, and whether the line stays live during installation.

Begin with the ADSS-versus-OPGW comparison. The two failure guides explain the most common specification mistakes on power lines.
