Professional Fiber Optic Test Kit: Optical Power Meter (-70~+6dBm) + Visual Fault Locator (5mW–50mW)

Professional Fiber Optic Test Kit for FTTH & data center maintenance: Optical Power Meter (-70~+6dBm, InGaAs) + Visual Fault Locator (650nm) in 5mW / 20mW / 30mW / 50mW options. Universal 2.5mm interface (SC/FC/ST), LC adapter optional. Fast power verification + quick fault location in one portable kit.

Description

Professional Fiber Optic Test Kit (OPM + VFL)

One kit. Two essential tools. Measure power loss + locate faults visually in seconds.

Optical Power Meter: -70~+6dBm (InGaAs) + VFL options: 5mW / 20mW / 30mW / 50mW.

Universal 2.5mm interface (SC/FC/ST). LC (1.25mm) adapter available upon request.

Quick selection: Data centers & LC-heavy environments → choose 5mW or 20mW. Outdoor access/OSP troubleshooting → choose 30mW. Long routes & tougher visibility conditions → choose 50mW.

The Everyday Carry (EDC) for Fiber Technicians

Stop guessing and start verifying. This 2-in-1 combo kit gives you the two most used tools in FTTH/FTTx maintenance: an Optical Power Meter (OPM) for signal level / loss checks, and a Visual Fault Locator (VFL) for quick break/bend identification.

Kit Highlights

  • Wide-range OPM: -70~+6dBm — ideal for weak PON/FTTH signals and general fiber troubleshooting.
  • Multi-wavelength support: 850/980/1300/1310/1490/1550/1625nm (common maintenance wavelengths).
  • VFL power options: choose the right red light intensity for indoor, access, metro, or long-route troubleshooting.
  • Universal 2.5mm interface: works with SC/FC/ST (LC via adapter if needed).
  • Field-friendly: compact, rugged, and quick to deploy on-site.

Choose Your VFL Power Option

OptionTypical Visibility*Best For
5mW Combo Kit≈ 5kmData centers, patch cords, indoor links, short drops
20mW Combo Kit≈ 20kmFTTH access, campus networks, general field maintenance
30mW Combo Kit≈ 30kmMetro access, OSP troubleshooting, tougher visibility cases
50mW Combo Kit≈ 50kmLong routes, backbone spans, demanding field conditions

*Visibility distance is an estimated field reference. Actual results depend on fiber attenuation, splices, cable type, ambient light, and route conditions.

Technical Specifications

Optical Power Meter (OPM)

  • Measurement Range: -70 ~ +6 dBm
  • Detector Type: InGaAs
  • Wavelengths: 850/980/1300/1310/1490/1550/1625nm
  • Interface: 2.5mm Universal (SC/FC/ST)
  • LC (1.25mm) adapter: optional

Visual Fault Locator (VFL)

  • Wavelength: 650nm (red)
  • Power Options: 5mW / 20mW / 30mW / 50mW
  • Connector: 2.5mm Universal
  • Modes: Continuous / Flashing (typical)

Typical Applications

  • FTTH / FTTx: measure received power at ONU/ONT, check splitter loss, verify link stability.
  • Data Centers: rapid inspection of patch cords and patch panels, isolate bend/break points.
  • OSP Maintenance: locate macro-bends, damaged sections, or bad splices before deeper testing.

What’s included (typical kit): OPM + VFL pen + protective caps + pouch (contents may vary by batch). Batteries are usually not included for shipping compliance—confirm with our team if needed.

Laser safety note: Higher-power VFL (30mW/50mW) is for professional use. Do not point the laser into eyes. Use appropriate safety practices during field operation.

FAQs

1) Which option sells best for most teams?
20mW is a balanced choice for FTTH field work. Data centers often choose 5mW. OSP teams prefer 30mW/50mW.

2) Does the OPM support LC connectors?
The standard interface is 2.5mm (SC/FC/ST). LC support is available via a 1.25mm adapter.

3) Is 50mW always “better”?
Not always. Higher power helps visibility in tougher conditions, but many indoor/data center jobs don’t require it.

4) Can you do OEM branding and packaging?
Yes. ABPTEL supports OEM label, carton marking, and distributor packaging.

5) What should I include in an RFQ?
Choose VFL option (5/20/30/50mW), quantity, destination country, and whether you need LC adapter and OEM branding.
