Description
The “Locatable” Standard for US Last-Mile Drops
Why Toneable? Once a standard dielectric cable is buried, it’s invisible to utility locators. The ABPTEL Toneable Flat Drop solves this by integrating a 24AWG Copper Tone Wire alongside the fiber. Technicians can trace the exact underground path years later, preventing accidental cuts during future construction.
Factory-Terminated Precision: Stop splicing in the mud. Our assemblies come pre-terminated with IP68 Hardened SC/APC (OptiTap® Compatible) connectors, tested to Telcordia GR-326-CORE standards for insertion loss <0.3dB.
Engineered for Tough OSP Environments
1. Universal Compatibility
100% mate-compatible with Corning OptiTap® MSTs, CommScope hardened terminals, and generic H-Connector systems. Designed for “Plug-and-Play” FTTH deployment.
2. Direct Burial & Aerial Ready
Features a UV-stabilized PE jacket with 2200N/100mm Crush Resistance. Suitable for direct burial (trenched) or self-supporting aerial spans up to 400ft (NESC Heavy loading).
3. Gel-Filled or Dry Core
Available in standard Gel-Filled (maximum water blocking) or modern Dry-Block (cleaner prep) configurations. Uses G.657.A1 bend-insensitive fiber for tight corner routing.
4. High Tensile Strength
Reinforced with dual FRP strength members. Withstands 1350N installation tension. Connector pull-out force >100 lbs (450N), meeting GR-3120 requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the “Tone Wire” used for?
A: It’s a copper wire embedded in the cable jacket. By connecting a tone generator to it at the NID, utility workers can locate the cable underground using a receiver wand, avoiding accidental cuts during future landscaping or digging.
Q: Does it come with a pulling eye?
A: Yes. All pre-terminated lengths include a factory-installed pulling sock (mesh grip) to protect the connector housing during conduit pulls. Max pulling tension is 100 lbs (45kg).
