PDLC Waterproof CPRI Patch Cord for Huawei & ZTE FTTA | ABPTEL

PDLC waterproof patch cords are designed for FTTA CPRI connections where standard duplex LC needs reliable outdoor protection. PDLC adds a sealed rugged housing and threaded coupling over the duplex LC core to secure the link between BBU and RRU/RRH in weather-exposed sites. ABPTEL builds PDLC assemblies with OS2 G657A1 (default) and LC/UPC interfaces, supporting common configurations such as PDLC↔PDLC outdoor jumpers and PDLC↔LC/UPC duplex (fanout available) for indoor termination. When fully mated, the connector system can be specified up to IP68, with options for custom length, labeling, packing, and test documentation.

Description

  • Built for FTTA CPRI links (BBU ↔ RRU/RRH) in weather-exposed base station environments
  • Ruggedized duplex LC core inside a sealed PDLC housing to reduce wrong-fit and ingress risks
  • Target up to IP68 when fully mated, default OS2 G657A1, pre-terminated and factory-verified

Product Overview

PDLC waterproof patch cords are designed for FTTA CPRI connections where standard duplex LC requires reliable outdoor protection. PDLC adds a sealed rugged housing and locking coupling over the duplex LC optical core to secure the link between BBU and RRU/RRH on tower or outdoor cabinet deployments. ABPTEL builds PDLC assemblies with OS2 G657A1 (default) and LC/UPC interfaces, supporting common configurations such as PDLC↔PDLC outdoor jumpers and PDLC↔LC/UPC duplex (fanout available) for indoor termination. When fully mated, the connector system can be specified up to IP68, with options for custom length, labeling, packaging, and test documentation.

Key Technical Highlights

  • Connector type: PDLC hardened connector (sealed rugged housing over duplex LC core)
  • Main applications: FTTA CPRI jumper (BBU ↔ RRU/RRH), outdoor cabinet links; suitable for harsh outdoor environments
  • Default fiber: OS2 singlemode, G657A1
  • Default end-face: LC/UPC (other options available on request)
  • Common builds:
  • PDLC↔PDLC waterproof jumper
  • PDLC↔LC/UPC duplex (fanout available for indoor termination)
  • Cable structure: GYFJH-style patch cable (common OD around 7.0 mm, other diameters optional)
  • Jacket options: LSZH / PE / TPU (selected by installation environment)
  • Ingress protection target: up to IP68 when fully mated and locked; dust caps protect unmated ports
  • Customization: length, breakout/fanout length, labeling/serial tag, packaging, and documentation
  • Verification: 100% continuity & visual check; IL/RL test report available upon request

Structure & How It Works

PDLC improves field reliability by combining standard LC optical performance with a hardened outdoor interface:
1) Duplex LC optical core keeps LC interface consistency on the optical side.
2) Sealed outer housing + locking coupling secures the connection under vibration and repeated handling.
3) O-ring sealing + dust cap strategy helps reduce dust/water ingress during installation and maintenance cycles.
4) Strain relief + reinforced cable build reduces micro-bend and protects the link during routing on towers or outdoor cabinets.
5) Pre-terminated plug-and-play assembly minimizes on-site splicing and reduces rework risk.

Compatibility

PDLC series is commonly used on FTTA deployments where the RRU/RRH port is a PDLC (LC-hardened) interface, often seen on:

  • Huawei
  • ZTE

For Ericsson / Nokia sites: compatibility depends on the actual port interface.
If your equipment uses FullAXS / ODVA / NSN style, please select the matching series under Waterproof CPRI Patch Cords to avoid mismatch.

To confirm quickly: send a port photo, equipment part number, or interface drawing.

✅ Ecosystem Compatibility: Huawei & ZTE

Our PDLC assemblies are precision-engineered to match the optical ports of major Asian OEMs. Guaranteed fit for:

  • Huawei RRU (3900 / 5900 Series)
  • Huawei AAU (Active Antenna)
  • ZTE RRU (Remote Radio Unit)
  • Other PDLC Interface devices

RFQ Checklist

To avoid mismatch and speed up quotation, please provide:

1) Equipment / Port Reference

  • Vendor: Huawei / ZTE (or other)
  • RRU/BBU port type: PDLC hardened duplex LC (photo or part number preferred)

2) Required Configuration

  • Build: PDLC↔PDLC or PDLC↔LC/UPC duplex (fanout leg length if needed)
  • Polarity / mapping: standard or specified

3) Fiber & Cable

  • Fiber: OS2 G657A1 (default) or other
  • Cable OD / jacket: GYFJH-type (e.g., ~7.0 mm) / LSZH vs PE/TPU (indoor vs outdoor)

4) Length & Installation

  • Length: __ m (tolerance if required)
  • Routing: outdoor exposure / cabinet / tower / conduit (helps jacket selection)

5) Labeling / Packaging / Documents

  • Label format (A/B end ID, serial/asset tag)
  • Packaging requirement
  • Test records: continuity / IL-RL report (if required)

Optional Accessory for Field Deployment

For long-length site installation and cleaner payout, ABPTEL can supply a portable cable reel stand (payoff rack) to help dispense patch cords smoothly and reduce twists or handling damage during field deployment. This is useful when routing PDLC jumpers along towers, cable trays, or outdoor cabinets in FTTA projects.

FAQ (Engineering-Oriented)

1) Is PDLC the same as LC?
Not exactly. PDLC uses a duplex LC optical core, but adds a sealed rugged housing and locking mechanism for outdoor use.

2) What is the default fiber and polish?
Default is OS2 G657A1 with LC/UPC. Other fiber types or polishing can be built per project requirement.

3) Which build should I choose: PDLC↔PDLC or PDLC↔LC/UPC?
Choose PDLC↔PDLC for a fully outdoor jumper between two PDLC ports. Choose PDLC↔LC/UPC duplex when one side terminates to an ODF, cabinet, or standard LC port.

4) Does IP68 apply when the connector is unmated?
Ingress protection rating applies when fully mated and properly locked. When unmated, use the dust cap to protect the interface.

5) What cable diameter do you supply?
Common PDLC builds use GYFJH-style jacket (often around 7.0 mm). Alternative diameters and jacket materials can be supplied on request.

6) Can you provide insertion loss / return loss test reports?
Yes. We can provide IL/RL test reports per assembly or per batch, depending on your QA requirement.

7) Do I need an adapter for PDLC patch cords?
For PDLC↔PDLC jumpers, no in-line adapter is needed. For panel mounting, a PDLC panel adapter/receptacle is available.

8) Can PDLC be used on Ericsson or Nokia sites?
Only when the RRU port is a PDLC/LC-hardened interface. If the port is FullAXS/ODVA/NSN style, select the matching series to avoid field rework.

9) What are common lengths and lead time?
Common lengths include 5/10/20/30 m; custom lengths are available. Lead time depends on configuration and quantity.

10) Can you add labels or serial number tags for site management?
Yes. We support custom labeling, heat-shrink ID, serial/asset tags, and packaging aligned with site workflows.

11) What should installers pay attention to during mating?
Keep interfaces clean, align correctly, and lock the coupling until fully seated. Keep dust caps installed when not in use.

12) Can you support samples for fit check before bulk?
Yes. Samples can be provided for RRU port fit verification and installation practice before mass production.
